We’ve all heard the stories of jesters and kings in England and France; human rights and human follies in the Americas; powers and riches, textures and colours in India, China, Lebanon, and Congo. Important and compelling stories, indeed. But what of Canada—or what of Calgary, even? Do Calgarians have stories to tell? Stories that are equally cogent, equally lovely? We at Totus Tuus believe they do—and we hope you’ll agree once you’ve experienced our performances—stories about fusing horizons and transgressing borders.
Our objective at TT is simple: share true stories of real Calgarians through live music, athletics, and great storytelling—preferably in a venue that knows something about good vibes and tight communities.

Fall 2025 Blackbird Calling is the richly-textured story of a young woman who moves to the prairie pothole region of Alberta and encounters the Spotties—undesirables living in double houses on a dead-end street. She projects local prejudices until she befriends a family of Spotties and discovers their stories and culture in a way that seeps into her identity. Join us for this compelling narrative gleaned from dozens of interviews with Indigenous Albertans striving to maintain their culture and pride in often-hostile environments. First published in Quattro Books and shortlisted for the ReLit Award.
